I am 21 yrs old. I was diagnosed with Gential Herpes about a year and a half ago. Up until i was 18 years old i was a virgin, and had never even engaged in any sexual activity. I have only had intercourse with one person and he has been tested and does not have the Herpes virus. I have driven myself crazy since the day i was diagnosed over how i could have contacted this virus. I found out only because i was feeling lethargic and went to the doctor. She recomended that I have an std panel run to make sure that I did not have Mono. When they called me back to have me come in for my results I assumed it was because I had tested posative for mono. when the doctor came in she looked at me and said you have Genital Herpes. I was and still am so confused about it all. I can not understand how I could be diagnosed with this disease. When the only person to ever have any genital contact with me has been tested more than once since the day i was diagnosed and tests negative every time. The doctor did not put me on any medication, and since i was diagnosed I have NEVER had any out breaks or any issue at all. Could this posative result be a mistake? Or could I have contracted it another way? If i truely had this wouldnt my boyfriend whome i have been with for four years and that i have had unprotected sex with in the past have it? Should my doctor have put me on a medication. any advice or help anyone may have would be great. thank you for taking the time to read this.

I went for many years not knowing i had contracted this virus.I mean years.I'm pretty much a healthy person.I had given birth to two healthy children and never once contracted it to my husband..Herpes can be funy that way. In my case i had become very weak after getting plastic surgery, and one small blister had popped up.I was freakin out. I hung in there and got myself on a good diet and extercise after that..Also,with the loving support of my family and friends helped out alot too.Remember it's just a cold sore.Hang in there.Dont bet yourself wondering where you had picked this up.In rare cases you could had pick it up by coming in contact with a blister on someone elses body.Go talk to a real doctor about getting on medication .Maybe your boyfriend could as well.Ask the doctor all your questions .Good luck and remember that you'r never alone in this..You will never be frist nor the last .Trust me:)
Thank you for your comment. Its hard to describe but i feel ten times better after reading your response. It kinda made me look at it as the glass half full instead of half empty. Thank you once again for your response.
