wow i guess i keep learning more and more about herpes. Now here is the thing with me ok. I know u passed it onto your partner but u have had an outbreak before. I havent had an outbreak ever. How likely am i to pass it?Now im scared shitless for sure and will wear condoms. There is no way in hell wiht your situation u jsut told me i will ever go without one for sure now.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I have oral type I and I recently met someone who has genital type II and i have been on the net finding information on how do deal with gh in a relationship. We have had serious conversations about this. We are not physicall with eachother right now. I want to have as much information as possible to protect myself. This story helped a lot. I'm sorry for what you are going through and what your partner is going through now as well. I was just looking at the herpevac vaccine for women that sounds promissing. The only limiting thing about it is that it is only effective, right now anyways, on women who are negative for both types.
Thanks Alexa,
I think it's great you are getting as much information about herpes as possible. You are in the same situation I was in with my ex-boyfriend, though reverse roles. There is no need to not be intimate with someone you like, you just have to be careful about it. (There is still the possibility my ex did not get genital herpes, I'm waiting to hear the test results.)
If you haven't already checked them out, I recommend you read the Transmission and Prevention pages, as well as a SharePost I wrote about this particular situation called Oral Herpes, Genital Herpes, and Dating (although I may have been a bit more naive back then, but maybe you can relate in some way).
Good luck and thanks for your feedback!
PJ
I used the prescribed medication for about a month. I was not comfortable with the idea that I would have to take this medication for the rest of my life. I did some research and Christiane Northrup, MD suggests in her book, "Women's Bodies Women's Wisdom" (page 280) several herbal remedies for outbreaks. I take Vitamin C every day and odorless garlic. At the first sign (tingling, twinges) of an outbreak I take 12 capsules of the garlic and continue to take 3-4 capsules every 4 hours for 3-4 days. I have found that her advice works for me. This regimen stops an outbreak in it's tracks or lessens the symtoms drastically. The time frame between outbreaks has also been lengthened.

this helped alot! ive had herpes for 6 years now and unfortunantly i was stupid and in love with a guy who claims he didnt know. anyways i think about it everyday and regret and hate that i have it! i struggle with it all the time. im to the point i dont even want to have sex or anything. I dont know how id be able to be straight up with a guy and tell him its like telling someone you have HIV or AIDS. I rather just practice abstinance, sometimes thats better than putting your life or anyones life in more danger especially now a days.
You know I just wanted you to know how sorry I was about what happened. Hopefully, he will get on valtrex or something so he can at least manage his symthoms. I hope he goes to see a doctor and tries to find out some sort of info on how to lead a healthier life so he can get less outbrakes. Also, I know of an antiviral get that could be very useful for you if you want to use it along with condoms. Its the antiviral gel that was created by a homeopathic guy called christopher scipio. I haven't had sex since getting herpes, but if I ever have sex again I am thinking I would use that.
Hi,
Thanks for your feedback and info about Christopher Scipio. I looked him up and he is very interesting, I'm going to look into more work that he's done.
Thanks again!
That's great because we can all benefit from anything that you learn , since you have great posts. I read his book and I highly recommend it. I was just browsing on Amazon.com trying to find homeopathic/natural ways in addition to the valtrex I take to manage my genital herpes and his ways sound excellent. I would have gone all the way homeopathic had I not developed "post-herpetic neuralgia" ( I am sure you know a lot about that "nerve pain/damaged nerves/nerves atrophied"). I am still in treatment for it. I developed it after my initial outbrake and its been 2 months since was diagnosed with it and I am on pain management with "Lyrica"now. The very first outbrake was on Sept 17th 2008 and it was a task to finally get diagnosed with "Post Herpetic Neuralgia" two months after the initial outbrake. You know, right after the outbrake I developed a yeast infection, a bacterial infection and a genitalia dermititis outside, and was quite confused as to what I was experiencing. The usual yeast meds don't work for me. Only Nyastatin work ( 14 days vaginal inserts). Anyways, after all of it was healed, I remained with Nerve pain and since I go to a specialist who deals with vulvodynia cases; he was able to figure out what what happening to me after all was said and done. Thankfully, he was able to tell me and diagnosed me, so I was better able to get treatment. Since I can't really afford to get herpes blisters in my genitalia due to the nerve pain remaining, I take valtrex everyday, but I also enjoy learning about how to make the environment in the vagina alkaline, so I have researched a lot since being diagnosed about natural remedies that keep herpes dormant ( antiviral natural dark grapes juice, beet juice mixed in with something else like apples, dandelion juice, tons of unsweetened plain yogurt, garlic and foods with zinc). I ve learned a lot from Scipio. If I did not have Neuralgia, I would have adopted Scipio's homeopathic approach all of the way, but I am too scared to only rely on natural remedies due to this very serious nerve pain. Anyways, If you want to exchange any more ideas ( I know you are an expert, and I love to learn from those who know more than me) please let me know. I thought your post on differentiating between a yeast infection vs. a herpes outbrake was excellent. Since I suffer from yeast infections too, I try to eat the correct things to make sure my yeast is under control too ( I take refrigerated acidophillus, tons of plain yogurt, and an Alkaline mixture with licorice roots etc... by Matol to regulate my PH balance down there. Along with a multi-gyn cleanser made in greece with tea tree and aloe vera. Its recommended during menstruation, after pool activities and in cases of mycosis and yeast infections. I really appreciate your posts.
Hi Sam,
Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm really glad you enjoy my posts and I hope you continue reading them. It breaks my heart to hear about everything you've gone through. But you seem like a very positive person, and for that I think you are inspirational. It looks like you've come a long way with your health and I have no doubt that you will fully recover.
Thank you for all your information about food and natural treatments. I know your ideas and experience are helpful to many people out there, so I'm happy to see that you're contributing to the site. I'm now certain I will read that book and not give up on alternative medicine. I look forward to reading more about you and your methods of coping with herpes and yeast infections.
Best,
PJ
