You can also get HIV from non-sexual contact such as sharing needles... however, it's an STD if you get it from having sex, no? I don't understand your logic. Why do people try to lessen the stigma of HSV-1 and not HSV-2. They're both the same really! It's just that most Americans are exposed to HSV-1 at an early age, so they get that. Her husband had the infection on his genitals. Whether it be HSV-1 or HSV-2, it's still GENITAL HERPES. And he gave it to her.

Its not really an std you can get it from lots of unsexuall behaviour such as sharing drinks or inoccent kissing like kissing your mom.
