I was visually diagnosed with herpes (probably type 2) 11 years ago. The swab was contaminated and was the only swab left at either hosptial in my city, so I've never had an actual positive result. I have never had another outbreak in 11 years, but often experience tenderness, itchiness and sharp, stabbing pains in my genital area, but on the left side only. Recently, I have begun having this stabbing pain on the left side of my vulva, along with aching, throbbing pain in my left arm, shoulder, hip, legs etc. right down into my foot along with severe headaches, and sharp, stabbing pains in my stomach (similar to menstrual cramps-in the same area, only with stabbing pain along with the cramping). These symptoms are especially severe when I'm menstruating (which has only recently re-started after being on Depo-Provera for almost 10 years which stopped my menstrual periods).
I'm just wondering if this is typical, if anyone else has had a similar experience or symptoms or if this could be something other than herpes simplex. Since I've never had another outbreak, I've never had the opportunity to be retested, so I'm not sure what is going on. This pain is becoming more frequent and almost debilitating some days, which affects my sex life as well as my work life. Any advice or similar experiences would be helpful.

I was just yesterday diagnosed with genital herpies, they diagnosed me by just looking at the sore's they sent away the swab to the lab but havent heard anything yet.
I thought that maybe they could have been wrong because in the past i had those same symptoms, the pain on one side all of that, just what you had discribed, and i did not get a sore, but now hearing this i know now that, that is probubly it, this site has been very helpful to me.
thank you!
