ok you obviously don't know anything about Herpes! so let me clarify so people don't walk out with wrong information
HSV-1 (Herpes simplex 1) is the common "colds sore" and is typically located around or in the mouth. this can be spread to the genital region and cause similar OB (outbreaks) as genital herpes but ISN'T genital herpes because it is cause by HSV type 1 not 2.
Now HSV-2 (Herpes simplex 2) known as "Genital Herpes" is an OB (outbreak) located in the genital area cause by HSV type 2, however this particular strand can not cause outbreaks in the mouth region.
Both strands of the virus have a lets call it "safe place" where they like to stay type1 is around the mouth but can survive down below and when in its dormant stage lays in the nerve cells around the neck. type 2 likes to stay around the genital area and when no OB occur and u don't shed it stays in a bunch of nerve cells around the base of your spine
so basically HSV-1 can be in both areas around the mouth and in the genital region but both these OB are cause by HSV1. what does this mean? you can pass common cold sores during oral, kissing ect when contact or exchange of fluids during OBs, or viral shedding.
Type 2 can be spread just as easlily if not more so but this is due to the fact that typically a person with HSV-2 have more reoccuring OB therefor they have a high risk of passing. but this requires sexual contact or exchange of fluids during OBs, or viral shedding to pass the virus to some1 else.
use of condoms can rudece the risk of spreading both types. More people have "cold sores" and are unaware of the risk during oral to pass this to some1 else and cause them to get a OB in the genital region caused by type 1 HSV.
Taking a blood test is the quickest way you can help determine if you have Herpes type 1 or 2 and get the information you need from your Dr.
hope this clarified,
some1 living with type 2
