I've never had cold sores but I can relate..my parents get them. My mom really badly.

Some people take low doses of Valtrex and other medications typically used by people with HSV2 for cold sores and see results. If yours are this devastating and frequent, that's probably a good option for you! If you are hesitant to use a medication, there are numerous herbal varieties but they can sometimes be a hassle to weed through.

    Check the resources here: http://www.herpes-coldsores.com/herpes_treatments.htm

I've also heard both good and bad things about H-Balm. To some it has a heavy lemon scent and is better for cold sores (good in your case). But here is a review if you're interested in trying. There's a 60-30 day money back guarantee.

Hope this helped! Just remember...you aren't the monster!

I have the H-Balm The daily and the outbreak formula. It seems when I apply the outbreak formula my skin around it gets red. So I don't know if it is helping or making it worst.

At this time I don't have health insurance so I have to try other remedies for this.

I mean to me anything that erupts is devestating big or small. I just now wish it wasn't me. But I can't change it.

I am trying to get on a better vitamin regimen, drink more water and I am going to to try to do a detox program every 3 months or so to see what happens this year.

Thanks for your response in all this. I am happy to know that there are others out there that can give there advice on this situation.

Well, Acyclivor (generic Zovirax) is a prescription drug but you can get it for 4 dollars at Target and Walmart. Not kidding! That's what I'm on right now because I can't afford Valtrex (and even if I could, I don't like supporting selfish and greedy drug companies!).

The redness could mean healing. It could also mean it's a little too strong and maybe you should apply a little less to the sore. Or worst case, you're allerfic to something in the solution.

Unfortunately, it seems everyone has to conquer this thing differently...our bodies are unique and the virus adapts to our bodies. Therefore there is no easy way out for everybody. I can definitely understand how frustrating this is to try and try and never seem to find a good solution. All I can say is, don't stop trying! Hopefully one day this will get easier. In the meantime, take care of yourself and try not to stress over it too much Smile

Oh ok great I didn't know that Target and Walmart offered that for 4 bucks. I really didn't want to do the drug thing. I wonder if this stuf works.

I also was thinking of doing a blood cleaner as well. I started my cleansing, I am hoping this rids me of any toxins and gives me a fresh start.

Thanks alot for responding. You are a great help. I hope all is well for you as well.

I currently take a generic brand of valtrex which is a cheaper than the brand name but still quite expensive (fortunately I have a drug plan to cover the costs), I find the medication works really well to prevent outbreaks and if I do have one, they don't last as long.

On the other hand, when I didn't have health insurance, I tried anything I could get my hands on to prevent outbreaks.  Out of everything I tried...I've found taking a Lysine supplement (or changing your diet to include lysine rich foods) helps to dramatically lessen and heal outbreaks.  I've also used abreva which I found helpful.  More recently I have read about "tea tree oil" as a useful remedy, but I haven't tried this yet.

I hope this helps a bit and remeber to just hang in there and you will find what works for you.

There are two types of HSV, HSV type 1 and 2, and both can cause genital herpes.
