    Dear vpsingh12345:

Suppressive therapy is daily long-term medication that is appropriate in some people with herpes to prevent severe and frequent recurrences and to reduce the risk of transmitting the virus. Studies show that if you develope an outbreak, the healing time is quicker and symptoms are less severe.

Please consult the rest of Dr. Grayson's article at http://www.healthcentral.com/genital-herpes/c/86/7541/stop-herpes/ for more information and helpful links on suppressive therapy.

    Hope this helps,
    BrendanS
