I'm really concerned, I have previously been tested and they said that I did not have anything serious but did have HSV-1 which is very common and not too much to worry about. I have very occasionally had cold sores inside of my mouth that would come typically if I bit my cheek, etc... this past saturday I hooked up with a girl who I'm not sure is infected and had both sex, and oral sex with her. I did have a open cut from biting my lip earlier in the night. It's now thursday and I had this red area pop up on the OUTSIDE of my mouth below my bottom lip. Ive never had this before, it itches slightly and burns somewhat when touching it. I'm wondering if its possible I could have contracted a different simplex and it's causing a different outbreak?
Here is a picture of what I'm talking about:

Please help.
Thanks

Hello,
Well it could be one of three things (im no doctor...this is just based on interpretation of your sharepost). 1) it could be your HSV-1 emerging for the first time. You said you have had them on the inside of your mouth --but there is a distinction that needs to be made between cold sores and canker sores. Usually HSV-1 only outbreaks (if you have it localized in your mouth) on your lips or outside your mouth. What you were talking about, biting your cheek, sounds more like canker sores which are unrelated to HSV. So in short, it could have been dormant and now HSV-1 had an outbreak. Obviously this isnt definite, you know yourself...but it is a possibility.
2) HSV-2 could have been transmitted. I don't know a whole lot about this other than that it is a different strand of herpes.
3) it could be something totally different. Either way, you should get it tested (culture test - since they are the most accurate that we know of) by a doctor...they know best in diagnostics.
Hang in there!
