I have had Herpes for over twenty years. Like most single people I face the struggle of dating. I have dated men that do not have herpes and have been both accepted and rejected. The "telling" is always difficult and I will admit at times, I did not disclose to a significant other that I have herpes. When I was first diagnosed, like most people, I was overwhelmed. The Internet did not exist and I felt alone. The outbreaks were frequent. I located a HELP group and did not feel so alone. As the years have gone the outbreaks have faded... but I decided to take the opportunity to use my experience with Herpes as a way to grow as a single woman and person. In some ways having Herpes has been the best thing that has happened in my life.
