I have had Herpes for over twenty years. Like most single people I face the struggle of dating. I have dated men that do not have herpes and have been both accepted and rejected. The "telling" is always difficult and I will admit at times, I did not disclose to a significant other that I have herpes. When I was first diagnosed, like most people, I was overwhelmed. The Internet did not exist and I felt alone. The outbreaks were frequent. I located a HELP group and did not feel so alone. As the years have gone the outbreaks have faded... but I decided to take the opportunity to use my experience with Herpes as a way to grow as a single woman and person. With a group of friends we created a Herpes Dating and Networking Service IclickU--- different from the other online dating services and we are committed to being supportive, informative, and unique. In some ways having Herpes has been the best thing that has happened in my life.
