I noticed swelling on the left side of my pelvis (lymph nodes)
on Saturday and a hard, EXTREMELY SORE, pea sized lump on the fold directly beneath my vaginal entry(also more to the left) and I had been experiencing an initially smelly, milky white discharge which had become chunky after inserting metro-gel for a couple nights(thought it may be bacterial vaginosis). I called my OB on Tuesday because the symptoms persisted. He instructed me to come in immediately. While examining me, he told me that he was almost sure it was herpes and tested it with a swab or strip or something. He told me that if that test was negative it could be wrong but, if it was positive it was right. I was so BLOWN AWAY that I can't remember what he said the results were. However, he did tell me that he was 90% sure it was herpes and gave eme a ten day supply of Valtrex. He also drew blood and told me the results would be back in no more than 10 days. I rushed home and informed my partner (angrily, I'm really bad about pointing fingers) who I'd been with no later than about a week prior to noticing the bump. He went to take a blood test which came back negative. He says he's had cold sores before but none recently and certainly nothing indicative of genital herpes. We've never done the oral thing and I've never had a cold sore and I do realize that i could have contracted the virus long ago. I've always practiced monogamy, but not always with monogamous men, if you catch my drift...Anyway, here are my questions: Would it be common for him to have a negative test? I've seen several pics on the internet and NONE of them look like what I have. They are all like pus filled clusters. Mines was 1 large hard knot, seemingly beneath the skin.Whatever it is, it burst the day after i took the first Valtrex and is now just open and red. It better fit the descriptions that I read of vaginal boils as opposed to herpes. Do you think my OB is wrong or am I simply in denial?
