I was just diagnosed with Genital Herpes on Friday. I originally thought I had a yeast infection, because my symptoms were VERY similar to a preivious yeast infection I had. I already know I got the virus from my current boyfriend, because his ex-girlfriend had Herpes. I've always been very cautious of STDs and STIs, I've been tested after every different partner. After my boyfriend found out his EX had it, he was blood tested imediately. And then blood tested 2 months later to make sure the virus wasn't hiding. Neither of us knew that a blood test wasn't an accurate way to test for Herpes. The clinic he went to didn't inform him of this, they told him that the most accurate way to test for herpes was through a blood test. Apparently, that's entirley incorrect if you have never had a visable outbreak. We both thought he was good to go, so we've had sex numberous times without a condom(I'm on birth control). When my syptoms got unbearly painful, I made a doctors appointment...I was checked out and then imediately told it was herpes. I'm currently taking Acyclovir 400mg and was also prescribed a gel to help with the pain. My boyfriend has never had a single outbreak or any symptoms at all. Yet I have every sypmtom and a horrible outbreak. I was told it has a lot to do with lifestyle, immune system and stress level.  I don't blame my boyfriend at all, I trust him completely and love him so much. I know that he would never do anything to harm me. When I told him the doctor told me it was herpes....he started to cry(first time I had ever seen him cry....ever) and appologized profusely. He's actually taking it worse then I am. I'm okay with it....I'm not gonna lie...I did almost cry when the doctor told me. But I'm fine now, I've been doing my research and trying to find out the best way to go about this. What foods are good/what foods should be avoided, what natural supplements can help, and so on. I just wanted to share my story with people who would understand what I'm going through. If anyone has any tips that would help me, I'd be very grateful to take them.

There are two types of HSV, HSV type 1 and 2, and both can cause genital herpes.
