Knowing your body with herpes infection

I have had herpes for over 20 years and have had numerous sexual partners and have never, never, spread the virus. Why? Because 20 years ago when I was infected from my boyfriend - I went to the gyno immediately, got on antiviral medication immediately and have stayed on it. I use once daily valtrex now. If I stop taking it and feel uncomfortable in my private area I refrain from sex, and start the antiviral medication for 6 months straight. I believe that if anyone infected goes immediately to a doctor and starts antiviral therapy and never has sex when the feel pain, burning or any unusual swelling in their private area, they can live a happy normal life and not worry about spreading a disease. 1 in 5 people have some sort of herpes infection and I believe it is being spread because people are afraid to go to the doctor and afraid of getting a prescription like valtrex filled. There should be no shame in being a responsible adult and seeking treatment for a disease that can be kept under control with medication and knowing your body. Herpes is spread through ignoring it and not treating it, I have had a child been married and have lived a normal healthy life without infecting anyone and so can you. You don't have to be afraid of herpes - you have to know how to control it, kinda like a werewolf - refrain from sexual intercourse when you feel an outbreak coming on and take once daily valtrex - it will change your life for the better. Also - you don't have to feel obligated to tell everyone you have it - no one needs to know but you and your doctor, as long as you are getting drug therapy. If you do not use any antiviral medication - then I believe you may be able to spread it and should tell people before sex. But since I started antiviral treatment right away, I have had unprotected sex and never spread it - as per what I said above. Last word - stop worrying, get treatment, and live your life!
