I was diagnosed with genital herpes at the very beginning of 2010. What a great way to start the new year. Slowly, I am coming to terms with it. I am not sure where I got it from, but I am assuming I got it from my boyfriend, whom I've been with for a couple months now. I have told him, and we are working through this together. I was with another guy while we were apart for a few months....so I am not sure who I got it from. Doesn't matter anymore anyways.
I am finally getting over my first outbreak. It has taken about a week and half, although I am sure it won't completely clear up until early next week.
I am worried however, that before I knew I had HSV, I touched my face near my eye..... just a slight reddish spot. No itching unless I focus on the area. And that is not a sign, as if I focus anywhere on my body long enough, it can start to itch if I think its supposed too. It might be from some new make-up I am trying.... Has anyone else had this problem? Help please!!
Also, I have started a blog, as I am having other health and mental issues. Please look and comment if you wish: http://daysofthechaotic.blogspot.com/
Any help at all would be great. Thank you and I wish the best for you all.

Hi there,
I definitely felt the same way when I was newly diagnosed. I was especially paranoid about infecting my eyes to the point that when I felt something similar to what you are describing I went to my eye doctor to talk about it with him. Here is the good news: his response was that it was highly unlikely that anything was really wrong. I was informed that if you had infected your eye, it would be so painful that it would feel like sand is in it. Now, remember that everyone is different and will experience things differently. So, it is unlikely that anything is seriously wrong but if you are concerned, it might make you feel better if you have a doctor look at it (if you have access to a doctor). Over time, having herpes gets less scary and you won't worry about everything. It will get better and that is great that you are about to work through it with your boyfriend.
Hope that helps :)
Thank you so much! Your comment really helped! All last night and this morning nothing has changed in regards to my eye, so I have come to the conclusion that I was overreacting. This is all so new, and still quite scary, to me, so I jumped to conclusions. But it is reassuring to know that someone else out there has the same concerns! Thank you very much!
You're very welcome :) I'm glad I could help! Any other questions feel free to ask; there is a lot of stuff to learn and understand at the beginning.
Take care
