My sister and mom both have genital herpes. My mom has had it for a while but my sister just got it and is a little confused how.

My worry is that i might get it from living with my family. Im worried my sister could have gotten it from my mom somehow and im worried that i could get it too.

They both have genital herpes but i keep having worries about things like drinking from the same cup or using the same fork or spoon, using the same bathroom (toilet seat), the shower, toothbrushes, or just anything that would be indirect contact.

I also want to ask if genital herpes can be trasmitted through the mouth.

Is the only way to transmit genital herpes with genital sores only, through genital to genital contact? or can it be transmitted oral to oral contact, or infected oral to uninfected genital. This is only if they have geital herpes and no sores in the mouth.

I appreciate all answers and advice.

  Thank you

There are two types of HSV, HSV type 1 and 2, and both can cause genital herpes.
