I am in a new relationship and to this point we have had protected sexexclusively. We would like to stop using condoms and recently we bothgot general testing done and my partner found that she is hsv1+ eventhough she has never had symptoms. At the same time I had an illnessthat sounds like an initial hsv1 outbreak (sore throat, fever, oralsores for ~10 days). She is very distressed to think she gave mesomething, but since most folks get hsv1 at some point, I am not soconcerned (I am waiting for my blood work to determine if I am nowhsv1+). My question is this...since she has never had symptoms thereis no way to tell if she has a genital or oral infection. If I do haveoral hsv1 can I give her a genital infection via oral sex even thoughshe already has hsv1? Also, if we have unprotected sex could she giveme genital hsv1 if I am oral hsv1+? Sorry for the long post, thanksfor the help!

I am looking for the same answer. My boyfriend had a coldsore a couple of weeks ago and gave me oral, a week or so later I get symptoms went to the local clinic and was told I had it - haven't been told what type yet but obviously in the genetals. I've never had coldsores or symptoms of any kind in the genetals. Nearly a week on and now my boyfriend is saying he has symptoms on his genetals. The clinic told me that you could not pass herpes back to someone that already has it. Is this right? If so what has happened?!
