I have been taking valtrex religiously ever since my 1st out break (it was horrible). However, since then I've only had two-three noticeable outbreaks, which have been mild and have cleared up quickly. I have only had one partner since my infection and we haven't been too sexually active beca...

Hi, my name is reds and I sometimes wonder if the meds works at all. Even though I just found out last thursday that I had it for 12-13 years is crazy as h***. Maybe it is a pyscialogoical thing because before I found out i just thought it was a bad bacteria infection and that's what the doctor's diagnosed me with but now that I know what I have these out breaks this week were unbareable and painful. So i ask if you are taking the meds during the week before your period you only can spread the virus to your parthner if you are experiencing an outbreak. Like I said, i am new to this and still learning so if you have any helpful info to share be more then welcome to share.

Unfortunately I was raped and contracted this from the guy, but be grateful you have a partner that will stand by you with this.  Enjoy your time with him and forget, well you never forget,  but don't worry so much about things.  Just don't do anything while the sores are present.  I researched and called everyone I know that is an expert on this and he will be fine, if he contracts it you were honest and have nothing to feel bad or guilty about.   My boyfriend couldn't take it and left me to deal with this alone.   You are a very lucky person to have such great and loving support, so enjoy it!

There are two types of HSV, HSV type 1 and 2, and both can cause genital herpes.
