I'm too old for this

By funny bunny Tuesday, February 26, 2008
I have some itching and blisters in my public hair but not in my vagina. I have not been married or had sexual contact for more than 22 years. The doctor took a culture of a dried up blister and said it was herpes. Can this be.

Hi Livenlrge, my name is Camilo and I am monitoring this Sharepost Community. First of all let me thank you for posting on our community. Although I am not a healthcare practitioner and thus cannot offer you any professional advice, I will do my best to direct to some helpful resources that hopefully you will find helpful in answering your questions. If I understood your post correctly, it seems that your doctor has already diagnosed you with the virus but you are uncertain as to how you contracted it so long ago, and the possibility of it remaining asymptomatic for so long. It is great that you have already taken the first step towards dealing with the virus and that is obtaining a confirmatory diagnosis. In regards to your question regarding the latency (lack or symptoms for a long period of time) of your infection, the following article may help put some of your curiosity at ease -- What are the symptoms of herpes and when should you expect them?

Please post again with any other comments or questions you may have, and don't forget to consult your physician before adopting any new knowledge into practice!
