I was diagnosed with gential herpes while already in a long term relationship. I never tested positive before but this time I did. I know my boyfriend had been tested before we got together so it wasn't from him. It was from a previous partner, which is possible. People can go along time and never know if they never get tested. Telling my boyfriend was the one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, but I loved him too much to ever put him in harms way. We both didn't really know too much about it, so of course we both had the OH MY GOD! I can't touch you anymore reaction. But after researching it and our situation we found out that it is actually very common, and something that you can live with. He cleard his head for a few days but in the end he said that he cares about me and I make him happy, I'm still the same person he met. And that he would do whatever he had to so we can work together, still be happy and enjoy eachother. We are still together and the happiest we have ever been.
I know how scary it can be to tell the one you love something like this because you don't want to lose them but keeping something like this inside will eat you up and make you feel guilty if they catch it. Them knowing can help them prevent it and will put you ease.
