outbreak

By Kelly Friday, May 02, 2008

I was diagnosed w/gential herpes close to 20 years ago.  I haven't had an outbreak in such a long time, probably over 8 yrs ago but am having one now that is quite uncomfortable.  A sore at the outside of my vagina & one labia swollen up to my clitoris.  How's that for a description!?!  Since my last outbreak was so long ago, I obviously have no medication or even a prescription I can re-new.  What meds are being prescribed now & how quick & effective are they?  I have Kaiser...think calling the advice nurse & describing my symptoms will get a script over the phone or will I need to make an appt.?

Hi Kelly,

My name is Camilo and I am monitoring this Sharepost community. First of all, I must tell you that I am not a certified healthcare practitioner and thus cannot offer you any professional advice. I can, however, direct you to some helpful areas of our site that may help answer some of your questions. We have a great site on the current available medical treatments and medications for genital herpes. It is most probable that you will have to see a healthcare provider before obtaining a prescription to any of the prescriptions mentioned in the pages I suggested, thus simply calling a nurse will most likely not suffice. I hope this was of help, please continue to post any questions, thoughts, or stories you may have. Also do not forget to consult your healthcare practitioner before adopting any new knowledge into practice.

Best of Luck,

CAM
