hello, I have HSV-1 in my family and I might have it too(but I have no symptoms), Iwas wondering if I could've given her genital herpes, yet not mouth herpes.. Thank you for helping. (her symptoms are swelling, red and something that is "scab-ish").
I have never had any symptoms, neither has she and she doesn't seem to have mouth herpes and mouths have been more involved than anything else.. I really hope it's just an infection.

HSV-1 can live in the upper spine (oral herpes) and/or lower spine (genital herpes). An infected partner can give you oral herpes from kissing and may not have any visible sores (the partner can be shedding and if they get sores, they may not show up for several hours) but they are contagious. If they have HSV-1 in the mouth area, you can pass HSV-1 in the mouth from kissing or the genital from oral sex. It can be either way. 70% of persons infected with herpes are from partners without any symptoms of the virus. Instead of wondering if you have herpes, a blood test for the virus can be performed.

Thank you for your response but I have one last question, if HSV-1 is transmitted from mouth to genital, are some symptoms on the genitals? (itching, scab looking things, red areas)
