I contracted it 20 years after my marriage. I have never had another partner, and my husband said he did some heavy petting as a teen, but never had sex with anyone since our marriage. I don't feel I would have been able to stay outbreak-free for so many years. He has never had any symptoms, and he will be tested soon. I had the igg test & it was a 12. I am now on supression medication.

That is hard to answer because it depends on you. If you don't do things to affect your immune system like drinking or anything else and do drink like carrot juice with your juicer and take care of yourself. The disease can virtually disappear for years. I had it pretty much go away for 10 yrs. Then stress and problems brought my immune system down and well it is back errrrr. But Stress is the main reason it does become active and if you don't eat well it will.
