I apparently have a bizarre case of genital herpes.  I take 2grams of Valtrex every day and I still get frequent outbreaks.  Also, I have been cultured to have herpes on my elbow and I believe that I have it elsewhere on my body (such as my breasts).  Doctor's insist that I shouldn't worry but I feel like I am always contagious.  I am looking for someone else with similar symptoms so that I can get some possible doctor recommendations and/or other info.

Some people do exeperience different results with antivirals. For some Valtrex appears to work fabulously and for others it does not appear to help, and yet a similar antiviral will prove more effective for them.

Consult with your doctor about trying a different antiviral or changing the dosage.

Also, many people find it helpful to identify what their personal triggers are - some people find stress is a major trigger, for others it can be particular foods.

And also remember that with time, for most people, symptom frequency and severity will naturally decrease.
