Kayla, I agree with Healthgal; get the results and take it from there.  Blood tests are looking for antibodies to the virus.  It is possible that in the early stages of infection that a blood test may come back negative, when you are in fact infected.  Generally, doctors that see patients who come in saying their partner has herpes will test you, but if the results come back negative, they'll want to test you again two to three months later.  If you have blisters, they can swab those to run a culture for the virus.  If no blisters are present, then a blood test is the only option.  Both methods are effective, but sometimes getting a blood test early on can have flimsy results.  If it turns out that you're infected, this site is very helpful...you won't be alone.
