Q: I am a male with HSV2. Say my female partner is not infected with either HSV1 or HSV2. Is it possible to transmit the HSV2 to her if she performs oral sex on me? and what are the possibilities?

Check out this website: http://consults.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/06/18/giving-your-partner-herpes/. It will answer your question and provide statistics. I assume you have told your partner that you are infected with the herpes virus. Be aware, most states recognize that innocent victims can pursue civil action from partners who do not disclose herpes.

 

HSV-2 is genital herpes that sheds from the lower spine. It can't shed from the upper spine. HSV-1 can reside in the upper spine (oral herpes) and lower spine (genital herpes). You can't give her oral herpes from HSV-2. Please note, you can transfer HSV-2 from skin to skin contact without intercouse from the genital area, thighs and buttocks, if you are shedding. 70% of all persons infected from herpes are from partners without any sores.
