No, some people have herpes their whole life and never show symptoms! You could be infected by someone and 20 years down the line finally find out, or you could never find out... or you could sleep with someone infected and next week have an outbreak. It all depends on you. Sorry to hear what happened, you're not alone! Your boyfriend should get tested as well.

If he's not in an outbreak (no sores) then they'll do a blood test, it CAN say negative and he IS in fact infected. The only REAL way to tell is if he gets an outbreak and he gets a viral culture done. With blood tests, their only looking for "signs"... with a culture, they scrape the sores and look under a microscope.

Take care! If you need anyone to talk to, I check this site everyday, feel free to email me and view my profile! Smile

Not neccesarily! The same thing happened to me, at first that was the only thing that i could think of but when i talked to him and really had a good understanding with hjim he had it and didn't even know! That could be the case, because he never had any syptoms in his whole life if you're boyfriend has symptoms then there is a possiblity that he knew but was to afraid to tell you but if you have a good relationship with him then you can talk to hima nd he'll hopefully tell the truth. Dont give up on him just yet. Work through it if possible and everything will be alright. My boyfriedn and i are still together, it's not the end of the world keep your head up and good luck on everything! Best Wishes I put you in my prayers!
