Q: I have no symptoms of Herpes ever. Can you still have herpes for years and not know?

I had a sexual partner tell me I gave him herpes. I have never had any signs of the virus. I broke our relationship off and he was very mad. I figured he was making it up to get me back for breaking up with him. Now I am scared he might have already had it. So can I have herpes but not have signs? How normal is having the virus and never getting the effects?

Thank you for your post.

Check out this video on herpes that talks about having herpes, but not having any symptoms. I think it will answer your question.

Yes, but you can get tested for it and not have to wonder anymore. I dated someone with no symptoms. He knew he had it but didn't think he could infect me. Two years later I was infected with genital herpes.
