Oh Gosh! I've been through the samething and yes itching is a sign of healn because your skin is getting back to it's normal condition. My itching lasted for about a month before it went away. It's normal but depending on how severe your outbreak was that lets you kinda get a view on how long the itching willl last. My solution to ease the itch was taking a warm bath and soaking for about 30mins before washing, be careful with the type of soap that you use as well because certain soaps can man the itch more severe or possibly turn it into a burn. Good Luck! You have nothin 2 worry about.
