i met this guy a couple months ago and hes sweet and like perfect and last night we were talking about we liked eachother and such. and he told me that he had something to tell me and he told me he has herpes. and that made me respect him and i dont want to stop talking to him cause i do really like him. i just dont want to get herpes. when hes not having an outbreak can i still get it?

Well let me first say this, you are really lucky that he let you know before things got more serious. The chances are smaller but you can still get herpes. The guy that I was with didn't have any outbreaks for a while, and I still ended up getting genital herpes. So basically the answer to your question is YES.
