can having a test done from lesions ever be false positive?

I had 2 small bumps that itched.  The doctor said it did not look like herpes, but did a culture test to be sure.  The test came back as positive for hsv-2.  Can a test from a lesion ever be false positive?  Should I get another test?

It can..I had a test done that was false positive..the only way to know 100% is to have a lab blood test. Thats what I did when I questioned my test..turns out mine was positive. I wish u luck.
