If both parties have herpes can one cause an outbreak in the other?

If both of us have genital herpes, obviously both have the virus, but if one has an outbreak and we have sex, can it cause an outbreak in the other

Possibly, because the lesions would leak the virus/fluid onto the other person, causing another spot where the virus reoccurs...not a good idea to have sex with an outbreak even if you both do have the virus. the virus usually reoccurs in the same point of contact...it travels through skin/nerve endings.  Not to mention the pain from the one having the outbreak...I dont' want to have sex then...my sores hurt without any contact!
