Just found out I have HSV 2 and am devasted... I need answers....HELP :(
HI, im 24 too and found out i had hsv 2 about a year ago. I got the outbreak only a few days after sleeping with my ex, so yes, you probably did get it from him.. it doesnt matter though, once you've got it, well you've got it.
my main concern is whether or not to tell prospective sexual partners that i've got it and what the hell will they think of me then? If it were me, i'd probably want to inspect the area closely if i decided i liked the person enough to sleep with them. this is a very embarrasing situation and i dont know what to do.
what bout u?

It is possible it is from him, he might not be aware that he has it. Just because he has not has any symptoms does not mean he doesn't have it. I got from my ex and he didn't have any symptoms. The only reason I know I got it from him was because 5 months before I had my first outbreak he had a cold sore on his lip. He performed oral sex on me 2 months after that and 30 days later I went to six flags and I guess the adrenaline from sitting in the front row of the Goliath triggered it.
You don't ever know the sexual habits of the person that you're with you only have their word. However,if they don't know about their own health, then it's not going to help.
My ex was tested and his results were negative, even though he had a cold sore on his lip...go figure that one.
Stay protected...

Some people have HSV and never know because the virus lies dormant in their bodies. It is possible that your friend passed it on to you, but never had any symptoms and didn't know he had it. It is also possible that you caught it from a previous partner but just haven't had an outbreak before now. Whatever the cause, one of the best things I ever did was talk to other people who'd been through the same thing so I didn't feel like the only person in the world. I've just joined www.yupperdoodles.com which has been really helpful. It's a free social network/ dating site for people with HSV where you can talk to other people who've been through the same thing. I hope you feel better soon.
