Q: I have both HSV-1&2 my girlfriend has HSV-1 if she performs oral sex on me will she then get HSV-2.
Having one variant of HSV tends to build up some immunity to the other but there is no guarantee that it cannot be acquired. Dr. Charlotte Grayson's article on the Truth about HSV1, HSV2 and oral sex explains the situation very well.
