I cannot really do justice to the subject in length so please read under the "find" area and really spend time digesting the information.  Here are some additional facts - You should still consider using safe sex practices namely a condom and not having sex - oral or traditional - during frank outbreaks.  using a condom means you will reduce the liklihood of increasing your viral load by transferring active virus back and forth.  The higher the viral load - the more recurrences very often.  You should both talk  over and consider taking an anti-viral whioch can also lower viral load and decrease recurrences.  Understand that you can be in "active phase" and not have frank lesions.

Please read up on the subject.
