Once you have the Herpes virus it stays with you forever. The virus can "hide" meaning you still have it but no outbreaks occur. You can give the virus to your  sex partners even if you don't have an outbreak. I read this all in many different online medical articles. They all state the same conclusion. I am waiting for my test to come back if I have the virus or not.  I am freaked out.  I don't think anyone would ever want me if I have it!! I think you have to tell the person you have it.  You don't want to keep it a secret and then give it to him. I know if I have the virus that I will break down and be devastated. Why make innocent people go through the same thing, definitely tell any sexual partner.
