Q: Inside my vagina opening it is bright red and it burns really bad. i can barely walk! please help!

So I'm 18 years old the first time i had sex was when i was 16 and in a relationship now i am 18 and in a long term relationship with my boyfriend. We have had sex for a while now but i have had some complacations. My vagina has been hurting for 3 days now really bad. first it just hurt to pee to the point i was crying so i went to the doctor and he gave me a antibiotic for a uti. well now it doesn't hurt that much to pee but my vagina opening hurts really bad. i got curious so i looked down there and inside it it is bright red it scared me because nothing else is that color. you can tell it looks irritated. the only time i get relief is if i'm soaking in the bath tub or i'm spraying water up there in the shower that seems to take the stinging away for a little bit. i have been on the antibiotic for a day now and the only thing its helped is the stinging when i pee. i want to know if this is normal with a uti or if i have something else. please someone help me it hurts so bad!

Ask your doctor to re-check you for genital herpes. It's not always diagnosed the first time. If you have it, the medication you are taking will not relieve the symptoms that you are currently experiencing. You would need a medication such as Acyclovir.
