Q: herpes

if having sex without protection and i have herpes does it still spread to the other person if not havin an outbreak?

YES! It is possible during viral shedding (when the virus is active and moving towards the surface of the skin). You will not always feel symptoms during these times and there is no way to predict when this will happen (if you do feel something people usually describe it as a warm, itchy sensation). Therefore, the only way to protect your partner is to wear protection while also taking antiviral suppressants (such as Valtrex or Zovirax). Just thought I'd mention that just using a condom alone will not 100% protect them from getting herpes...after all, that's how I got it! Frown
