I got hsv 1 from my boyfriend while having oral sex, he had a cold sore on his lip,my doctor told me it was kind of unusal to have hsv 1 on my genitals.My question is this, would he get genital herpes if I had an outbreak, im a little confused because he already has oral hsv 1, would it matter? Im only asking just for precaution(not saying we would have sex while I have a visible outbreak).I just want to be on the safe side. We also kissed while he had the cold sore so i guess im a little confused as to why I didnt get it orally? Im sorry this is new to me, I found out in november and I just recently only got one outbreak since then.

If he were to give u oral sex on your genitals sense u had type 1 on your genitals he shouldnt catch it orally. Why well he already has type 1 on his mouth. Could he catch it on his genitals ya its possible. Usually they say once u have one type 1 spot u cant get it on the other. It can happen though.
