What is the possibility of a false-positive HSV-2 in a patient with antiphospholipid syndrome?

general
08/06/08

I was diagnosed 10 years ago with antiphospholipid antibody syndrome.  I apparently have an anti-S antibody in my blood.  Because of this, I have had false-positive syphillis tests in the past.  I have also had chickenpox 8 years ago and mononucleosis 14 years ago.  I know that the HSV 1/2 test checks IgG and IgM, but I do not completely understand it.  I know that the syphillis test also checks IgG and IgM, and since my syphillis test was false-positive, I am wondering what the likelihood is that I could be false-positive with my HSV-2.  I was told that my HSV-1 was a lot higher than my HSV-2, but that it showed I had been "recently exposed."  I have been asking for further information, but they are apparently still researching it.  In the meantime, I am mentally exhausted from not knowing.  Can you give any information about possible false-positives with antiphospholipid syndrome?  I should also mention that I have not had any symptoms of herpes besides an occasional cold sore, which I have not had for many years.  Thanks.
