Is this a sign of outbreak?? Am I more likely to pass on the disease with any of these symptoms?
I was recently diagnosed with Genital Herpes (unsure which simplex) about 2 months ago. I have not had any sores or what you would consider a "normal" outbreak since my initial one; however, I have noticed on several occasions that I am just not right down there. For example, sometimes I notice a different smell that I did not previously have. Also, my lymph nodes or glands on either side of my throat and down by my lower abdomen have recently become swollen. I feel my throat hurting a bit and had a slight fever. Is this more of a strep throat type of thing, or possibly a sign of future breakout? One last thing, I have had protected sexual contact and have noticed the very front inside of my vagina feels very sore as if it has a cut on it. What would this represent? Please help!!
Hi there. Sorry, but what your are experiencing is indeed an outbreak. I usually feel like I have a cold, or the flu about 2 days before an outbreak. My lypmph nodes are flaring!! My back hurts, I just don't feel good. That's probably the first sign, then you get tingling or itching. Sex, man for a long time I hated that word. When you had sex, did you hurt or itch before? If so, you were probably having an outbreak. But the burning feeling inside like you have cuts, are open sores. So, yes, thats probably it. The smell could be a bacterial infection, probably from the sex. When you get outbreaks inside your vagina, you might bleed and get discharge. But I would recommend you get tested for other evil things, because if it is something else besides herpes, it could really hurt you big time in the long run. Most people will get a second outbreak within the first year.
Please heed my advise. I'm NOT a medical professional, but I have had this shit for about 4-5 years. I have type 1 but I get it down there. Which means my bf had it in his mouth (cold sores) and I got it down there. So it travels too.
This is what works for me:
FIRST: get a bottle of Hbalm, it's AMAZING!! You can get it at a health store or on the internet. About 12$ a bottle, the best $12 I have EVER spent! And no, I don't work for them, But I LOVE it! Warning, it smells strong, but it works as aromatherapy for me. USE IT AS SOON AS U START TO FEEL A TINGLE OR ITCH OR PIN PRICKS!
SECOND; Get a good bottle of L-Lysine with added supplements such as Vit C, licoric, echinacea, and so on. Lysine by itself works, but with added stuff is BETTER! I used to take it daily but now I only take it when I get a tingle, or itch, or during an OB. TAKE ASAP
THIRD: Look up arginine- and do your best to stay away. FORTH: Stress= outbreaks, get a surplus of "chill pills" ie. a trustworthy friend, yoga, meditation, Haagen Daz, etc. RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH Every one is different. Birth control also makes a difference. H 1 and H 2 can be spread.
Best wishes and stay healthy!!

From Astatine:
Arginine is the "bad guy" and lysine is the "good guy" as far as amino acids and herpes is concerned. Stay away from arginine. Herpes uses arginine to replicate. Say, fuel. Chocolate and peanuts are really high in arginine. You can google a list of high arginine foods. It will be impossible to avoid it all together, but it will give you a heads up as to when to take extra lysine.
Um, as far a dating, I am very lucky in a sense, I am pretty sure I got H1 from my current boyfriend. But I get it down there. EVEN THOUGH IT'S "TYPE 1". He usually gets tiny little outbreaks in his mouth, but for him, it's almost invisible. We have been together for many many years. But to tell you the truth, I honestly believe A LOT of people out there have Herpes. A LOT. Just think about how many people you have seen with sores on their lips. Eh, that's herpes. "Cold sores, Canker sores, same thing". Herpes.
But it IS MANAGABLE. In 5 years, my boyfriend has not had any outbreaks on his genitals. But I DO. Or DID, I should say. I haven't had one in MONTHS (yay!!!) So, he has it, but just doesn't show it. Which I am SOOO thankful for.
As far as sex is concerned, if I am not wet, or turned on before, I can expect soreness and symptoms of an outbreak immediately afterward. But as long as I take the lysine, I'm good.
Keep in touch,

oh yeah,
even though I have had my doctors advise against douching,, It REAALYY helps me out after sex. The coolness of is is such a relief. I also think that maybe the acetic acid (vinegar) helps against infection. So, maybe after sex, if it hurts, try it. I have found it to be very soothing. Sex, especially if it's rough, can definitely cause an outbreak! So make sure you are comfy and wet... naturally. Some lubes can also aggrivate the situation.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help answer my questions. I got a lot of useful info from your response so I appreciate it a lot. I will go get some Lysine pills to take daily.
Does the pain after sex begin to stop occurring? I have only had this a couple months and it seems every time I have sex i am paying for it the next day (almost like a mini-UTI). I was tested for everything else and this was all (thank God) that I had. I am not sure which type I have so am planning on contacting my doctor to learn more about it.
Have you had troubles dating bc of this disease? I am scared of letting any guy I would be interested in know what I have... makes me want to stay in and not date at all.
