Can outbreaks that originated in the mouth appear on the gentials as time passes on?

When I was a very young child a friend of the family brought her daughter to my house and she said to my mother that her child had a sore in her mouth. So the child and I were playing when she took my bottle, sucked it, and gave it back to me.  Days later I broke out with lesions in my mouth and toungue. My mother took me to the doctor and the doctor said it was herpes.  Throughout childhood i would get oral breakouts often.  Then as i got older they came less often. When I became a teen I began getting breakouts in my gential area (and i never had sex).  I have been getting them about once a month ever since and I am now 20.  Is it possible that it is the herpes I had orally as a child showing up on my gentials or could it simply be boils? (i still get a little sore on my tongue about 4 times a year, when i am stressed) I am extremely angry because I didn't deserve this...i was a innocent child when i contracted this virus...

I have herpes. It doesn't have me.

Never had an outbreak, never had a warning sign. Everyone I'd ever...

Hey there.  Unfortunately, yes, HSV-2 sores can start somewhere else, but ultimately end up in your genital area.  Most people don't realize that you can get HSV-2 (genital herpes) orally.  The HSV-2 virus specifically resides in your Sacral Ganglia nerves (the nerves around your crotch and buttocks).  You can contract it by making contact with any other part of your body, and you may have initial outbreaks on that part, but ultimately, the virus will move to your pubic area.

To know for sure, you should get a blood test to see if you have HSV-1 or HSV-2.  HSV-1 is the oral herpes, and HSV-2 is genital herpes.  If you get tested and are negative for HSV-2, then your sores are from something else.  If you test positive, then you'll know for sure.

If you're positive, it raises a whole new batch of questions, though... first and foremost, how did a toddler get a case of genital herpes in THEIR mouth, and then spread it to you?  Also, are you absolutely certain that you had outbreaks before you were sexually active?  ANY sexual contact can spread the herpes virus... oral, manual, AND genital.  Even if you hadn't had intercourse, anyone that may have used their mouth or hands on you may have unwittingly spread it.  If you masturbate, YOU may have even accidentally spread your oral herpes to your genitals.  Yes, there's a lot of confusing elements that need to be addressed... your first step to getting answers is to get a conclusive test.  Good luck.

There are two types of HSV, HSV type 1 and 2, and both can cause genital herpes.
