Q: Can herpes zoster cause a false positive on an HSV-1 and HSV-2 blood test? My wife recently had a shingles outbreak and I had a comprehensive blood screen that came back positive (2.07).

Get tested again. Read this article: http://consults.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/08/27/getting-tested-for-herpes/. It indicates anything below 3.5 should be repeated. Hope this helps you.
