Years ago, I was told I had herpes symplex 1, which I didn't even know what that was at the time. I have only been with my husband of 43 years, and believe he has only been with me. However, when we stopped being able to have sex, my yeast infections and Herpes symptoms stopped immediately. Can he have possibly have gotten something from a dirty toilet someplace? He was doing a lot of traveling during those days. The reason this comes up now is that I have reoccurring blister/pimples that constantly appear on my face and side of my mouth. They are red, puss filled and hurt and sometimes itch. Can this be the same thing w/o the genital part? I am 63,he is 67,and he has never had any symptoms that I know of. I have CFS/FM which is under control, as well as Diabetes type 2, also under control. Any info you can provide would be helpful. Thanks

I have HSV-1 as well and no you cannot get it from a toilet seat. But almost 70% of the population has been exposed to herpes 1. HSV1 generally attacks the mouth and HSV2 is usually found in the genitals and is more serious. You could have gotten it from oral sex of sorts and he could have gotten it from you and transferred it to himself.
