Q: Genital Ulcers

I have what my dermatologist suspect as a genital ulcer (on the side of my penis, about 5mm in diameter). He had my blood tested but the tests came back negative for Herpes and HIV. He has now given me an antiseptic to wash with twice a day and said that I should come back when I have an ulcer in my mouth so that he can take a sample of the ulcer for further tests.

What could be the cause of this and what can be done to cure this so called ulcer.

The ulcer is not "open" or septic and looks like a small circular scar.
