I have HSV 2 and take daily Valtrex. I recently had unprotected sex and it resulted in a tear of the skin in the genital area. Could this increase the risk that my partner was exposed? I was not, and currently am not having an outbreak.

There is always the possbility of transmission of the virus which is why it might be a good idea to routinely use a condom and just make it your new "habit." Yes, there is a chance that you may have passed on the virus but this is also going to be true everytime you decide to have sex without a condom.
