Q: I have been diagnosed with herpes, my partner of 3 years has no signs. What does this mean?

I was diagnosed after an outbreak about 3 months ago. He is still showing no signs. I've not had sex with anyone else in 3 years, but I'm not sure about him. Also I know he had a lot of partners before me.

He can be a carrier and have "no signs." He needs to get tested for you to be sure that he is "herpes free"- and if you've had other sexual partners it will be hard to know who infected you with the virus.  It can show up physically many years after exposure.
