i got tested two years ago which was about 4 months after i stopped sleeping with this one guy when i got tested everything came up negitive...since then i have had two different partners one of which i was with before i got tested the first time i recently got tested agian and it came back positive for herpes. so i confronted both guys ive slept with since the first time i was tested and they both got tested and said it came back negitive....is it possible i got it from someone before i was tested two years ago and it just didnt show up at the time...i have never had an outbreak so have no idea how long i have had it

All tests are fallible so it is just possible that your original test returned a false negative. Since then have you had symptoms? Is this why you had a second test? I ask because of you've had no symptoms it could be possible you have received a false positive.
On the other hand it is just possible that one of the guy's received a false negative. Another possibility might be that not everyone is telling the truth. The problem is that it is full of speculation and possibilties. If you have any doubts about your most recent test it might be an idea to be re-tested.
There are actually different tests and depending upon which one you had the level of sensitivity differs slightly. Having said that the accuracy rates tend to fall high into the 90% margin for sensitivity to HSV2 (upwards of 96%) and the same for HSV1 (upwards of 91%). In other words the chances of the test results being wrong are quite low - but not impossible.

I would retest all the guys you have slept with!It takes 3 months for the antibodies to build up to show on a blood test. Any of the guys could of been negative & honestly they were positive & they didnt even know it. Yes when u tested 2 yrs ago you could of been positive but the test showed negative cause the antibodies didnt show up yet. If u wanna chat plz message me here
