The discharge you are describing would not be the typical presentation of herpes.  It's usually a rash that breaks out, that can be painful, even itchy and then the raised areas turn into vesicles that 'weep the fluid."  it's obvious that you know youhave type 1 - and understand that if you were to perform oral sex, you could give a woman type 1 as a genital form. With regards to the testing, type 2 specific should be pretty accurate testing - you can check the lab out by contacting the public health department in your city or state and seeing if they are a "reliable lab.'
