Oral sex & Herpes
I was recently diagnosed with genital herpes after going to the GYNO and i still dont know which virus type i have. I was wondering if its possible for me to still be able to get oral sex from my partner wihtout giving it to him on his mouth.
One other question... ok my whole family practically gets "cold sores" inside their mouthes and i have gotten them as well for years now...never outside my mouth or on my lip.. always inside.. this is HSV1 right?
Yes on the second part of your question - cold sores are typically HSV1 -
You can give herpes to someone orally or with standard sex so I would take the same precautions regardless of how you are choosing to interact sexually. That means being aware of when you can be even remotely "infectious" - talking with your doctor about anti-viral medications and being clear with your partner about the risks involved especially when you have oral sex.
