Some people never experience any symptoms/breakouts from HSV 2. That's why so many people don't know they have it. I would go get tested to make sure you do not have HSV 2. As for transmitting to your partner, it depends. HSV 2 is primarily genital herpes, but it can be transmitted to oral herpes. Even though one might not experience breakouts, there still can be viral shedding which is contagious. But, since you have not had a breakout, you will not know. I would hold off on sexual contact until you are tested to be safe.
