I have been diagnosed with genital herpes by a gynae with all the symptoms matching and positive result blood test for BOTH herpes Type 1 n 2. I have never had chicken pox/shingles in my life. I also had a blood test for herpes 2 years ago and I am clean. My boyfriend had gone for a bloodtest after I had shown my symptoms and he tested negative....How can I possibly have gotten Herpes? n both Types of herpes? when my boyfriend is clean....!!??

okay im not a nurse but I know a good bit of info. is he the only guy you've slept with?. If you answered yes then his test might have come out negative when its really positive. This is because sometimes its hard for the test to detect the virus especially in men. My doctor gave me this example a mans penis is like a hose they have one whole when they urinate the acid doesn't get rid of the virus but makes it harder for men to have any symptoms of gh,but womans vaginas are like cups when dirt gets stuck in the bottom of a cup its hard to get it out and the dirt just sits and sits and gets older and older just like gh. Now if you have had multiple partners there is a possibility that you have had the virus for a while and just didnt get any symptoms until now this is because the virus sleeps in the nervous system and is only triggered by certain things. Hope this helped a little

There are two types of HSV, HSV type 1 and 2, and both can cause genital herpes.
